In small-sized apartments, every centimeter counts, so the space should be used as rationally as possible. There are a lot of design techniques that allow you to divide one room into several functional areas. This can be done by painting surfaces in different colors or by applying an effective separation method using various light sources. Such methods are good, but will not provide the premises with the necessary privacy. Successfully cope with this task will help such a piece of furniture as a closet.
Zoning a small room with a cabinet is much easier, and not as costly as building a new wall from drywall or brick. In addition, a stationary wall deprives the owners of the opportunity to change the interior after a while.
The construction of any stationary partition, even plasterboard or glass, requires approval and inclusion in the BTI plan. The exception is sliding partitions on rails.
Types of Partition Cabinets
Content
All varieties of such partitions, by design, can be conditionally divided into two types:
- Equipped with back wall.
- Racks without a back wall.
Models with a rear wall have one serious drawback - they block the natural light from the window in one of the shared areas. Such cases can be bilateral and one-sided. If you decide to purchase a finished factory product, it is advisable to decorate the back wall of fiberboard.
Two-sided is more practical, but it is undesirable to use it in small-sized rooms, because such a product has a great depth and this makes the design very heavy. If it is decided to apply just such a design, then mirrors on the doors will help to visually increase the space.
Racks without a back wall make the space easier and transparent, however, the division into zones with their use is only conditional. On the shelves, indoor flowers will look great in beautiful flower pots, vases, photographs and other objects that give the interior an individuality.
Wall-mounted partition cabinet
Such a partition is very convenient for zoning the room, it makes it possible to radically change the design and function of the room without expensive repairs. Allows you to organize convenient and at the same time not conspicuous storage areas.
A partition in the form of a rack, without doors, transmits light, zones the space, but does not clutter it, creating a feeling of lightness of construction.
Closet
The wardrobe is quite compact, but spacious, and mirrored or frosted glass doors add light and space to the room.The design is convenient in that there is no need to take into account the area required for opening the doors.
Double sided cabinet
Doors placed on both sides of the partition make it possible to use it in two parts of a divided room at once. Double-sided cabinets are very practical and quite heavy, which is also important when using it as a wall. Such products look spectacular, with a passage in the middle. This design will not only fully replace the wall, but also provide excellent sound insulation.
Combination of partition cabinets
An angle made up of two partitions creates a separate, functional, partially isolated space in the room. In this case, the combination of two cabinets of different configurations will be interesting. For example, a wardrobe for clothes and a rack for books, flowers and other necessary items.
A double-sided wardrobe with a partition between rooms will be very convenient for operation, for example, such a design with mirrored doors installed between the bedroom and the living room will save space and expand the room.
Cabinet size selection
If the cabinet, which is used as a partition in the room, is made to individual sizes, then it is necessary to think through all possible options to give the room maximum comfort.
In principle, the height of the furniture used as a partition can be absolutely any. It is limited only by the dimensions of the material used, for example, the standard height of a chipboard sheet is 278 cm. For a room with standard ceilings, this size is quite enough. Well, if you need a higher cabinet, then solving this problem is easy with a mezzanine.
By European standards, the side panels for furniture should be at least 18mm thick. If chipboard is used, there will be less formaldehyde in a material of this thickness.
A hinged cabinet or shelving can be any length. With a wardrobe, it is somewhat more complicated due to the fact that there are some restrictions:
- along the maximum length of the guides (not more than 500 cm);
- according to the minimum dimensions of the product - the width should be at least 100 cm because Doors are available in sizes not less than 50 cm.
Doors of swing cabinets are made, as a rule, 60 cm wide. An increase in width will entail an increase in the weight of the door, in which case reinforced hinges must be used.
The choice of colors for the partition cabinet
When choosing the color of a partition, it is necessary to take into account its combination with other interior items:
- white color - easily combined with other shades, visually expands the space, adds light;
- yellow color - catchy, attracts attention, makes the room cozy and warm;
- black - gives cabinets both elegance and solidity;
- brown - associated with luxury and emphasizes good taste, creates a clear space.
Partition cabinet for separating different rooms
It is advisable to carry out zoning of the room with a cabinet if you have a too small room that performs several functions at once or vice versa, the room is too large and you need to complicate the space and make it more interesting.
In a small room, the partition will look bulky, but if there is still a need for zoning, it is better to use a partition in the form of a ladder. It will not only solve the problem of dividing the room, but will also look very original.
If you want to create a more isolated room, you can combine cabinets with a doorway between them.
Between the hallway and the room
A closet instead of a wall between the hallway and the room is very convenient if the layout of the apartment does not provide for a dedicated entrance hall, for example, in a studio apartment. It will be practical to use a combined double-sided cabinet, on the one hand - a compartment, in the hallway, and on the other hand - a shelving, in the living room.
For children
In the children's room, in which two children live, dividing the room with a closet allows each child to provide an individual space.
For the kitchen and living room
In the kitchen, a separate dining area, separated by double-sided cabinets, will not be superfluous.
If necessary, you can arrange a comfortable workplace in the living room, without reducing the main space too much.
