Types of armchairs
Content
Before choosing a chair in the nursery, you need to understand all the performances. A large assortment of types of children's furniture is presented in stores.
In addition to visual differences, chairs are available with:
- different frames;
- various fillers;
- different upholstery;
- different shapes.
In the form of home child seat is available:
- ordinary;
- folding;
- toy
- soft bag.
The first three types in their design have a rigid frame made of:
- natural wood;
- wood derivatives;
- plastic;
- aluminum pipes;
- metal.
The strongest and most durable is metal. But the operation of children's upholstered furniture of small chairs in particular with metal inserts is problematic. Massive structures are heavy. If the child needs to move such a chair, he will have to help him.
According to the types of gaskets, upholstered furniture comes from:
- foam rubber;
- spring inserts;
- synthetic winterizer;
- polyurethane foam;
- holofiber;
- latex;
- Durafil;
- periotech;
- polystyrene foam.
Each type of filler is selected individually for the product. Dense fillers that do not change shape under load are more suitable for babies. These include latex, durafil, periotec. These excipients (except latex) have a composite structure that provides excellent posture support.
Children's toy chairs are made with different upholstery. This is due to the needs and nature of use. For example, for folding chairs, sofas, the upholstery used must allow air to pass through well, provide heat exchange and circulation. But the upholstery of furniture for daytime sitting must be wear-resistant, durable, not lose appearance, easy to clean.
Upholstery selection
The requirements for upholstery, from which upholstered furniture for a child is made, are increased. For example, when buying a baby soft chair in the form of funny animals, frequent use leads to premature abrasion of the surface, loss of a neat appearance of the product, breakouts and complete damage.Therefore, when buying, ask the seller what the casing is made of.
But what materials are used for the manufacture of children's upholstery:
- Cotton. Natural material. It is a universal tissue, does not cause allergic reactions, skin irritations, is suitable for small children (newborns). The disadvantage of this lining is accelerated abrasion. Cotton can easily be damaged by simply catching on its surface.
- Tapestry. This material is denser than cotton, so its service life is longer. Also applies to easily erasable surfaces.
- Flock. It is made artificially. An adhesive is applied to the main surface, to which a nylon pile is attached. For child seats, it is undesirable to use it.
- Velveteen, velvet, velor, suede. These fabrics stand together for a reason. Their woven structure is similar - a dense, soft surface, pleasant to the touch with a matte gloss finish.
- Jacquard. Thick, stiff fabric. It has a beautiful fabric structure. It is second only to genuine leather in durability. The unusual texture of jacquard is obtained due to the use of two main threads - silk and dull in the production technology.
- Shenill A kind of jacquard, with the addition of additional threads. New introductory textures give the surface a softness that is clearly absent in jacquard. Strength and wear resistance remain at a high level.
- Ecological skin (ecoskin). Substitute for genuine leather. Wear resistance is high. It is easy to clean, does not absorb moisture. The use of such upholstery for folding armchairs is unacceptable. With a night's sleep, due to lack of air circulation, the child will experience discomfort.
- Genuine Leather. The most expensive and durable material. It has all the positive qualities. Its use will give the interior design additional aesthetics, superiority, and high cost.
The most common materials for children's foam seats are tapestry, velveteen, velvet, jacquard, chenille. Their use will make it easy to operate the product for a long time.
Product selection
If you buy a sofa chair in a soft design, pay attention to the number of layers of upholstery. There should be at least two of them. The outer layer should be unfastened and removed so that it can be easily washed, cleaned, dried.
When choosing a frame product, pay attention to the frame material. The most ideal candidates are aluminum and wood. It is not advisable to purchase products whose frameworks are made of wood derivatives. It:
- particle board (chipboard);
- fiberboards (fiberboard);
- MDF;
- plywood.
All of the above materials are made by gluing chips, sawdust or pre-cut sheets (plywood). Therefore, a children's play chair, made from any one frame indicated above, will be prone to premature destruction due to constant dynamic load. And any exposure to moisture will lead to bloating and instant failure of the armchair for your child.
Stuffing should provide support for your child’s spine. Therefore, it is better to buy solid fillers that ensure the preservation of the form for the entire life cycle.For these purposes, latex is suitable.
In a soft chair-cushion, foam balls of expanded polystyrene are used as a filler. To ensure better shape retention and longer life of such a pillow, select synthetic fluff as an additional filler. Its presence makes the product more comfortable. When buying a soft pillow, be sure to make sure you can add filler. A snake should be sewn.
